Need a DJ or Karaoke in the Leavenworth Area?
This story has been an odd one in the making. A couple of years ago I was
living in Hong Kong, and bought myself a MiniDisc Player. For those of you
unfamiliar with MiniDisc, it is a media that allows you to copy digital media (such
as CDs) without loss of quality. This is similiar to a cassette tape, but
fully digital, so you can skip songs, display titles, rearrange order, and lose
very little resolution in the music. This resulted in my gathering a large
amount of music and placing them in the order that I preferred.
I have also been a member of many bands in the past so I have aquired a lot of PA
equipment. One Sunday afternoon, after playing bass at a friends
house, I
stopped by a local bar in Leavenworth called Trails End Lounge. After talking
with some of the people there and singing some old songs (we were there for awhile!)
I told them that I had a good disc that I made in the car and I could bring it in
and play it through the bass amp. We sat there drinking beer and listening
to that disc for several hours. (One MiniDisc can hold about 3 CDs but if it is
compressed they can hold about 6 to 8 hours of music). Well the owner had
such a good time, he invited me to bring some of my PA equipment down and DJ for
the bar on a Friday night. Hence Steve's DJ Service was born.
It grew quite a bit from there. That night, I played on an old EV 18" Sub
and a 15" top, through a power PA Mixer, with two portable CD Players, and a portable
MiniDisc player. Over time, I started building up my equipment and now have
a professional level setup.
I currently bring most of the following hardware with me for a typical job:
- 2 Yamaha 2000W Speakers, each with 2 15" Woofers and a Horn
- 1 2600W Makie Power Amplifier
- 1 American DJ Mixing Console
- 1 Peavy Microphone
- 2 Sony MiniDisc Players
- 2 MP3 CD Players
- 2 Trees of American DJ 4XPar 32 Lights for Dance Floor Lighting
- 2 American DJ Music Pulse Dimmer Packs
The lighting system can easily cover a dance
floor of about 100-150 SqFt.
The sound system could push sound clearly for several miles. Believe me there
is enough top end for any room size.
